A shocking revelation from a whistleblower with close ties to marine conservation activism has revealed the true reason behind a campaign to reduce lobster consumption.
“They couldn’t care less about the whales. They just want to lower demand and drive the price down,” said the anonymous source on Friday.
The whistleblower went on to describe the activists as “wealthy elites” who “use state funding to expense big fancy seafood dinners.”
“I’ve even heard them say, ‘I wish the price would go down, because it just tastes so good.'”
Monterey Bay Aquarium’s controversial decision to place North Atlantic lobster onto its “red” list of endangered species has caused quite a stir in communities along Maine’s coast.
“This is how we make our living,” said Randy Foss of Bucks Harbor. “I like my activists the way I like my whales — tangled up in rope at the bottom of the bay.”
Activists are vehemently denying the whistleblower’s claims.
“I am absolutely appalled at what I’m hearing,” Dr. Rodney Ludlow from Environment Maine Research said, pausing between sentences to burp and wipe butter from his face and hands. “Oh, excuse me — yes, I’ll take the check please.”
